The Mercedes-Benz W111 is a car that oozes style and sophistication. Designed by the renowned Paul Bracq and Friedrich Geiger (who were also responsible for the post war 300SL, W113 Pagoda and R107) the W111 is a timeless design manufactured between 1961 and 1971. Throughout the W111’s production the cars design and engine were revised multiple times. This particular car left the factory in 1967, being a 250SE this car is fitted with the later M129 engine superseding the earlier 220SE’s smaller less powerful engine. First fitted to a W111 in 1965 the M129 engine gave the W111 150BHP and a significant increase in top speed. This added power and the 4 speed 722.2 automatic gearbox made the 250SE an effortless car to drive. Even today the W111 provides easy motoring, the car is just at home on the modern roads of today as it was on the roads of the 1960’s when first revealed.
This particular W111 is an original RHD 250SE automatic. Receiving a bare metal restoration prior to the former keeper acquiring the car it was subsequently fully resprayed in classic ivory white. Throughout the vehicles life no corners have been cut with only top-quality components used for maintenance and service work. Within the car’s history file is the biggest collection of Mercedes-Benz invoices for genuine parts that we have ever seen for a W111. The result is a well maintained, useable and reliable classic coupe. During the restoration the car also received a full interior re-trim in the correct grade perforated leather. The interior now presents in great condition with new carpets throughout. The woodwork was not spared, also being fully repaired and re-lacquered to achieve a great finish.
Prior to the previous owner purchasing the vehicle the mechanicals and running gear were fully overhauled. The engine has covered a mere 3100 miles since being rebuilt and runs just as good as the car looks! The car drives effortlessly with the six-cylinder engine working seamlessly alongside the automatic gearbox with no knock or bangs. Post restoration the underside of the vehicle was treated to a light under seal helping protect the metalwork for years to come. The coating is light and the patch free floors, sills and jacking points are visible.
This W111 has just enough mellowed Patina that you can drive it without fear, yet it would not look out of place on the lawn of a classic car show. The car has just gone through our fully equipped workshop for minor adjustments and is now ready for a new home. For further photos or information please call us on 01279 813907.
