Description
This beautiful Mercedes-Benz 350SL is arguably one of the finest R107 variants on the road and a firm favourite of the team at Hilton & Moss. We were delighted when a long term customer of ours decided to take this Mercedes to the next level, restoring and upgrading the car to his own personal specification.
The car was first stripped down for the required rust repairs, all completed in house before the bodywork in our paintshop. This R107 was a great base with the common areas (heater scuttle, sills, wings) all in good shape. The team worked to preserve, treat and coat the car protecting from future rust and deterioration.
During the restoration the customers vision combined features from the original early car including chrome door handles and hubcap wheels with desirable features from the later variants such as the front ‘chin’ spoiler. The result is a superb looking totally unique R107.
The interior was fully retrimmed by our in-house trimmer – entirely bespoke in full beige leather. Zebrano wood was added alongside a bespoke Bluetooth converted original radio and upgraded sound system. A freshly retrimmed soft-top completes the car perfectly.
The 3.5 litre V8 is silky smooth after a thorough top end rebuild and reseal. A bespoke stainless-steel exhaust produces a subtle burble and a rebuilt gearbox provides a smooth shift from the 3-speed unit.
