Noble M400 V6 Coupé
Description
This Noble M400 V6 Coupé recently came into our workshop after an MOT raised some advisories. The vehicle required extensive mechanical repairs and cosmetic enhancements to restore it back to its optimal condition.
Mechanical Repairs:
- Brakes: The rear brakes were stripped, cleaned, and then refitted along with new handbrake shoes. The front brakes were also serviced, with the calipers cleaned and greased with new brake pads fitted. To improve brake cooling, the vent holes were drilled and cleared on all brake discs, after a build of material over a number of years. Additionally, all brake pipes were replaced, requiring the fabrication of a new offside rear mount bracket due to previous damage.
- Suspension: All shock absorbers were replaced to ensure optimal handling and ride quality.
- Fuel System: The braided fuel pipes connecting the tank to the fuel pump and the pump to the filter were replaced to ensure the reliability of these vital parts.
- Steering: The power steering system was investigated and repaired. The return pipe was replaced, and the power steering pump was removed, stripped, and cleaned due to a blocked valve. The pump was then rebuilt and reinstalled in full working condition.
- Other Repairs: A new battery was installed, and an Anderson jump point was fitted for future convenience.
Cosmetic Enhancements:
- Paintwork: To improve the overall appearance of the vehicle, the brake hubs were cleaned and painted and the callipers were repainted as required.
Challenges and Solutions:
- Brake Pipe Fabrication: The broken offside rear mount bracket required custom fabrication, which added time to the project. However, the skilled technicians successfully created a replacement part that suited the original design of the vehicle's specification.
- Power Steering Pump Repair: Diagnosing and repairing the power steering pump involved a thorough inspection and cleaning process. The technicians were able to identify and resolve the issue, restoring the system's functionality and retaining the original part.
