Description
The team at Hilton & Moss are delighted to be handling the sale of this beautiful 1955 Austin Healey 100/4 BN2 built to ‘100M’ specification. This vehicle is for sale for the first time in 8-years after residing in a private collection.
This Austin Healey left the factory on the 1st of December 1955 originally finished in Healey Blue with blue leather trim. With the registration number GEE 958, it has been confirmed through historic records that this is indeed an original UK home market vehicle supplied by Donald Healey Motor Company Warwick themselves.
This fantastic provenance made this car the perfect base for a full restoration and upgrade. The restoration was completed in February 2012 by UK based renowned specialists JME Healeys. Documented and with photographic evidence this was a full nut and bolt ‘no expense spared’ restoration to refurbish, upgrade and improve this fabulous British sports car.
The body of this BN2 was entirely rebuilt and hand crafted in aluminium to save weight. A louvered bonnet and belt were added as per the original 100M variants and the bumpers removed. This 100/4 also received an upgraded engine which consisted of
- Aluminium fast road specification cylinder head
- High compression pistons
- 100M specification carburettors and camshaft
- 100M specification exhaust manifold
- High torque starter motor
- Electronic ignition
- Powerlite alternator
- Large core radiator and 5 blade fan
- Front disc brake conversion on duel circuit system
- Large capacity aluminium fuel tank with Aston filler cap
- 72 spoke wire wheels
Finished in Aston Martin Racing Green metallic this Austin Healey looks incredible. The interior is finished in matching green leather with a green carpet set. The boot and fuel tank have also been trimmed in green leather to match. Since restoration the car has covered a mere 500 miles and is thus presented in near immaculate condition.
The quality of the restoration is very high and has been confirmed by the full inspection completed by the team at Hilton & Moss. Images of the underside have been included within the gallery and underside viewings on a ramp within our workshop are welcome.
The quality of work is so good in fact that the team at Octane Magazine chose this very vehicle for an article also included within the file.
The car is complete with its heritage certificate, original driver handbook and a variety of restoration documents. This a fantastic opportunity to own a very unique, beautifully restored classic Austin Healey.
