Description
Hilton & Moss are delighted to be handling the sale of this elegant 1963 Jaguar E-Type S1 3.8.
The Jaguar E-Type is known by many as one of, if not the most beautiful car ever made. Jaguar built the E-Type from 1961 up until 1974 with three variants all ranging in engine size and specification. In most recent times, the Series 1 examples have become most desirable with the early 3.8 engine vehicles taking the top spot. With discs brakes all round, rack and pinion steering and all new independent rear suspension the Jaguar E-Type offered a superior drive to many of its competitors at a fraction of the cost.
This particular E-Type OTS left the factory in February 1963 and was shipped to Jaguar Cars New York. First sold to a Mr Clark JR, this Jaguar was originally finished in Black with a Beige interior but has since undergone a full nut and bolt, bare metal restoration including upgrade to a ‘fast road’ specification. The restoration begun in 2016 and took a total of 3-years to complete, the result is a beautiful but equally usable Jaguar E-Type finished in old English White with an Oxblood Red leather interior, carpets and an aluminium knurled center console.
During the restoration a huge number of upgrades were completed to enhance the driving experience of this Jaguar.
- Fast road specification engine with gas-flowed head, Mahle pistons, balanced crankshaft, new shells, rear oil seal conversion and lightened flywheel
- Uprated cooling system with aluminium header tank, aluminium hater matrix, Rob Beere Racing aluminium water pump and Fosseway Performance cooling fan.
- Classic Fabs SS stainless steel exhaust manifold with straight through exhaust resonators
- Uprated starter motor
- Three-point seat belts
- Wider 6.5J wire wheels with Dunlop SP Sport tyre
The restoration on the vehicle was thorough and included full shot blasting, powder coating and re-bushing of all of the suspension. The car received an all-new wiring loom including electronic ignition and re-conditioned dashboard instruments with all new switch gear. A ‘no expense spared’ attitude was taken throughout the project to bring this E-Type up to a fantastic standard.
This is a matching number vehicle that’s complete with its Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a healthy history file documenting the works completed and a huge number of labor and parts invoices.
This is a great opportunity to own a beautiful 3.8 litre Jaguar E-Type at a very reasonable price. The car is available for immediate viewings at our Bishops Stortford showroom and underside ramp inspection is possible upon request.
