Hilton & Moss are pleased to have this 2001 Caterham Superlight R for sale at our Bishops Stortford showroom. The Superlight R is thought by enthusiasts to be one of the finest Caterham’s made. The K-series VHPD engine in standard format produces 190BHP with the power transferred through a 6-speed gearbox and limited slip differential.

This particular Superlight R was first registered in March 2001 and has had just 4 custodians since. The car is finished in Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red with carbon fibre dash board, nose cone and front wings. Tillet seats are fitted in the cockpit along with Willans Harnesses for improved safety. This Caterham is also fitted with full weather gear for further useability.

In 2007 this Superlight R received a full engine rebuild and upgrade to the following specification:

DVA Power built engine. Approximately 230BHP/R500 Specification:

• Forged omega pistons
• Fardon steel rods
• Fully ported big valve head
• Piper cams,
• Fully balanced
• Exige throttle bodies with uprated injectors
• Pace dry sump
• Customer aluminium sump tank, radiator, water header tank and oil catch tank
• Titan carbon plate LSD

To handle the additional power Quantum adjustable dampers and larger four pot brake calipers were fitted to the car.

In more recent years the car has received continuous maintenance and refresh work to keep it in top mechanical order. In may 2023 the car received a brand-new head gasket and major service including cambelt.

Prior to this an all-new Helix Autosport clutch kit in 2020 along with general maintenance at JC performance. The car has a detailed history file documenting the cars genuine low mileage of just 31,000 and also retains its original sales invoice from 2001.

The bodywork on this car is presented in very good condition and reflects the enthusiast owners this Caterham has had.
