This facelift 2009 Maserati GTS is one very beautiful supercar. For the 2009 GTS the engine was a new version of Maserati’s Ferrari derived aluminium V8 but with increased bore and stroke increasing displacement to 4.7 litres. An active exhaust with shortcut valves lets you hear and feel every single one of the impressive 433bhp and 361 ft/lb of torque. 0-60 in 4.7 secs and a top speed of 183mph (governed), this is a seriously quick coupe. The sound of the car is as dramatic as the exterior and truly does make your hair stand on end. A tiptronic style automatic six-speed (automated manual) transaxle gearbox is used, supplied by Graziano, this new unit replaces the GT’s ZF six-speed and employs a dry twin-plate clutch. Though not one of the newfangled twin-clutch gearboxes, it has many operating modes, and in the most aggressive the shift time is immeasurable. It is essentially used as a sequential manual gearbox. 360mm brake discs with aluminum bells can bring the car to a grinding halt at a moments notice and she does feel more nimble on the road than you may think This is a very practical car, even perhaps a family car, but this cross continental bruiser is really a choice made with your heart.
