Debuting at the renowned 2011 Geneva Motor Show, this opulent model found its place in the Aston Martin lineup, elegantly positioned between the £130,000 DB9 and the £170,000 DBS, showcasing itself as a true embodiment of grand touring splendour. Think of it as a modern-day ‘Prince of Wales’ specification.

The Virage Volante sported a reimagined design with an array of brand-new body panels, resulting in a lowered and wider stance compared to the DB9. The notable 'Virage' moniker, derived from the French word for "corner," had adorned a previous Aston Martin iteration, with the V8-powered Virage coupe introduced in 1988, a testament to the brand's enduring legacy.

A captivating blend of elegance and performance was achieved through meticulous craftsmanship. Bi-xenon headlamps with LED side lights and indicators, illuminated the path forward, while a redesigned grille drew inspiration from the exclusive One-77, boasting aerofoil-profiled horizontal vanes. In a departure from tradition, elongated side strakes elegantly extended above the grille aperture, redefining the model's visual identity. A groundbreaking innovation in the form of 'beam blade' windscreen wipers, featuring Bosch Aerotwin blades, graced the Virage Volante, both enhancing functionality and aesthetics.

The interior, reminiscent of its DB9 and DBS brethren, enveloped occupants in a realm of luxurious comfort. A state-of-the-art Garmin SatNav system, featuring a sizable 6.5-inch screen, elevated the driving experience and later became a staple across the Aston Martin range.

The Virage Volante benefits from additional sound insulation on the front and rear bulkheads elevating the cabin's tranquillity. The adaptive damping system, developed in collaboration with Bilstein, was meticulously tuned for a grand tourer, creating a harmonious blend of comfort and control.

At the heart of the Virage Volante lies a potent 6-litre V12 engine, boasting 490, precisely positioned between the DB9 and DBS in terms of power output. The beloved Touchtronic 2 transmission was the sole option, highlighting the brand's dedication to refined performance. Cross-drilled Carbon Ceramic Matrix discs, derived from the DBS, ensured formidable stopping power.

With a short production run, Aston Martin only produced 388 Virage Volante’s over a little more than a year, this one is believed to be one of only 81 right-hand drive examples in the UK.  This rarity, combined with its captivating design and meticulous engineering, established the Virage Volante as a coveted gem within the Aston Martin legacy.
